It's day 5 "at least one post a day" challenge ! Today I wish to share results of my first official request of drawing a bank vole, a precious rescue pet that couldn't be let back into the wild. Thank you for the support !
If you wish to recreate I suggest:
• using a thin paper that isn't high quality if you're a beginner
• art is about practice and making mistakes so don't be afraid of throwing out a few papers
• using a pencil that's on the harder side like most commonly used HB and using softer ones for details like B2
• references help understand how an object (in this case animal) presents itself, maintains balance etc.
• bank voles are small chestnut-brown rodents with a cream-coloured underbelly.
• like all voles, it has small eyes, a short tail and a rounded snout.
• bank voles have large ears (but not as large as mice) which distinguish them from other UK vole species.
